The ISU LGBTA Alliance will be hosting Dr. Davina Kotulski, a national speaker on Prop 8, this Thursday March 26th from 5-6 pm. Eaton Hall 1132.

Dr. Kotulski, clinical psychologist and a nationally recognized leader, speaker and writer within the marriage equality movement. Davina has been a leader in the marriage equality movement for over a decade dating back to her efforts to support the Hawaii Marriage Project, pass a pro-marriage equality initiative with Californians for Same Sex Marriage (CASSM) in 1999, and her work to defeat Prop 22, the Knight Initiative. She joined Marriage Equality USA in 2001 and began the marriage license counter actions with her wife Molly McKay. The couple joined with fellow activists to run the Marriage Equality USA California chapter and launched a pro-active effort to raise awareness for the need for equal relationship recognition for LGBT people and win marriage equality in the state of California.

Her book, Why You Should Give A Damn About Gay Marriage, is used as a teaching tool and activist handbook within progressive communities of faith, LGBT organizations, political clubs, and universities.

She will speak about Prop 8 and why it matters to everyone, not just the LGBT community. Q&A will follow.

I hope you can make it or advertise this to your students, friends, and colleagues.
